With images portraying whimsical, harlequin-esque
masked figures walking through strangely timeless milieus which
look as though they are located at the exact place in the universe
where science and fancy converge, the works of Gil
Bruvel have been described as Salvador
Dali meets Cirque de Soleil.
Others have simply said that his stuff is very French
influenced.
Born in Australia to French parents and having lived
in France before moving to the United States in 1987, Bruvel, says
he doesn't limit himself to one nationality when creating, however.
"I can experience I think almost on a daily
basis, a combination of culture," says Bruvel."And bring
what is best of each culture.
And to combine it into an artistic form is definitely
an advantage, at least for me."
